Back to Square One

Some people fall off the wagon. I fell off the wagon and straight onto the buffet table.

Friends, I confess I’m awful at this kind of thing. I’ve let myself go once again, and when I weighed myself at my daughter’s pediatrician’s office, I was taken aback – SHOCKED! – to see I weighed in at 230lbs. That means in just eight months, I’ve gained back almost the weight I worked so hard to lose.

*ARGH!*

Well, no one to blame other than myself, so here’s the plan:

1) Back to healthy eating. The past few months, I returned to my one-rice, two-fried-egg, one viand set-up. I need to increase the fiber intake while decreasing the fat, so fruits in the morning paired with a cup of cereal and skim milk will be my regular morning fare. I also will do my best to reduce the snacking – I bought some high-fiber crackers, and will snack on a pack a day, and maybe some carrot sticks, which, quite frankly, are a great snack because I hate their taste, and lose all appetite after a few sticks, lol – and beef up on less carbs, more protein.

2) Move more. I’ll make an active effort to log in at least an hour a day of walking opportunities so I don’t shock my system. Then by mid-October, morning jogs headed into morning runs hopefully by November.

3) Sign up for a fitness program. There’s an opportunity I’ve been offered that could help me lose weight – food plan and fitness program included – but I may have to participate in an online testimonial-type setup where I blog about what I’m going through. Sounds like a great plan, but I’m also scared to see what might happen if I can’t live up to it. It’s so much more different if you can’t deliver on your end of the bargain, and while losing weight may be easier than, say, buying a condominium in Makati, it’s still pretty rough sailing at the start.

Anyway, I really do want to get started, so wish me luck. I’ve got a long way to go.
