Another run today

Posted in The Runs! on 06/28/2009 by Ganns Deen

Ran another 4k today. Shaved almost two minutes off my time from the 23rd. Yay for me! Had oatmeal for breakfast. Will have veggie pasta couscous with meatballs for lunch. It’s going to be a good day. I’m feeling the effects of this! 😀

Here’s the goal: 200lbs by July 19, the day of Run for Home. I’m really praying I can run on this day!

Run For Home looks really interesting…

I know I just resumed running two days ago, but the Globe Run For Home race looks really really tempting. Jaymie posted a reverse psychological post that, even without its sneakiness, gave me enough information about the race to really make a solid case for joining it.

The only downside is that it’s set for July 19, which is a Sunday, a workday for me. I may have to file a leave for this day if I really want to do it; however, if a colleague has to go to Baguio for a work-related event on Sunday, that means I have to report to work, and that basically sinks any chance of me joining the race.

The objective, of course, is not to race or beat anybody other than myself. The objective is to better my best time. I would like to record a personal best in terms of distance and speed per kilometer. My best 5k is 34:29; my farthest run was 8k (1:09:21). I’m wondering if I can run a 10k, and with only a month to prepare, I’m not sure if I can get in shape for that, but I’d like to try.

I’ll be praying that God aligns everything so that I can run on this day. (And pull off a sneaky side tour in the afternoon.) Will let y’all know if that happens. If not, no problem; there’ll be other races.

Back on the bus

I did a 4k last Tuesday. It was my first run in more than two months – I know! I’m sorry! – but it felt pretty good. More importantly, when I awoke the next day, I didn’t have any leg pain, which tells me that I might be all set to resume my thrice-a-week runs.

I was all set to run this morning, then Typhoon Tropical Depression Feria came in and rained on my parade.

No matter. I’ll find time to walk about the building during my 12-hour shift at the office today. *mumble grumble rassum frassum*

Also, a great big “Thank you!” to Anton, who sent me several e-books on diet and fitness. Thanks, bro! *hi-five* I’ve read two already and they’re extremely, extremely useful! I’m particularly excited about Warrior Fitness; most of the material in this book contain exercises I can do at home. They don’t look easy at all, which means NEW CHALLENGE! A shout-out, too, to Chinkee Tan, who donated a bottle of chromium picolinate to my cause.

Today, I woke up at 4:00am but went back to sleep because it was raining. It’s now 5:20am, I’m about to hit the showers and prepare for a great day! Breakfast will be cereal with Nesvita Pro-Weight Management milk and chopsuey with ground chicken breast; 10:00am snack is a cup of yogurt; lunch will be salad with a grilled porkchop, and dinner will be up for grabs (I’m thinking of getting some sashimi from Tokyo Tokyo).

I’m back on the bus!
