I’m back from the Globe Run for Home. I’m freakin’ exhausted because of the drive and the run. I have only one photo to show for my efforts – I’ll upload it later – but it’s all good.
Comments:
- Pity the poor people who traveled from all over last July 16-18 to Fort Bonifacio only to be told to claim their race kits on the day itself.
- Pity the poor people who registered for 10k but weren’t able to get race kits.
- Pity the poor people who registered for 5k but got their race kits after the starting gun.
- Thankfully, I got my race kit minutes before the starting gun. Had to assert myself to make it happen – at one point, I debated whether I should just run without the number – but it turned out okay in the end.
- Got a medium singlet. Please, I haven’t been a medium since I was in sixth grade. Gave it to Cathy.
- I didn’t run with the electronic chip. Didn’t want to line up with the thousand other runners in line with it. Had my trusty Nike+ iPod with me to help me anyway.
- My Nike+ iPod isn’t calibrated properly! The 5k registered more than 5.5km on my device. Darn it! Now I’ve got to recalibrate.
- Man, was it hot.
- Final time for 5k was 40:01. Not good, but still better than Race for Life’s 40:58. Considering the lack of training and all that, I’m content.
See you at the next race!
