You know I royally screwed up

Posted in From the Future Thin Guy on September 9, 2009 by ganns

Okay, I confess, I fell off the bandwagon.

I confess I have been unsuccessful at eating the right foods, and avoiding the wrong foods in moderation.

I confess I have not been exercising regularly. My cardio and weight training have been sporadic at best.

I confess I have been snacking with the wrong snacks, at the wrong time, for the wrong reasons.

I confess… I am currently 210lbs.

I’ve gained 12 lbs back.

The good news is, I’m not giving up. I’m getting back on.

Pray for me, please.

I love chicken!

Posted in Diet, From the Future Thin Guy on July 3, 2009 by ganns

Yesterday, I ordered a half-chicken from Kenny Rogers Roasters for PHP195. No rice, just a few vegetables. It was delicious, it was filling. The breast meat could not have been more moist! Mmm!

However, it is still PHP195. I could go to SM and buy a whole roast chicken for only PHP150.

I’m lessening the carbs, and still trying my best to work out these sugar cravings. Meanwhile, I run tomorrow. :)

I’m joining Run for Home! And Kenny’s 09 Urbanite Run! And Training for Victory! Okay, so that last one isn’t a run, but it’s for my spiritual health. :)

Run For Home looks really interesting…

Posted in From the Future Thin Guy on June 25, 2009 by ganns

I know I just resumed running two days ago, but the Globe Run For Home race looks really really tempting. Jaymie posted a reverse psychological post that, even without its sneakiness, gave me enough information about the race to really make a solid case for joining it.

The only downside is that it’s set for July 19, which is a Sunday, a workday for me. I may have to file a leave for this day if I really want to do it; however, if a colleague has to go to Baguio for a work-related event on Sunday, that means I have to report to work, and that basically sinks any chance of me joining the race.

The objective, of course, is not to race or beat anybody other than myself. The objective is to better my best time. I would like to record a personal best in terms of distance and speed per kilometer. My best 5k is 34:29; my farthest run was 8k (1:09:21). I’m wondering if I can run a 10k, and with only a month to prepare, I’m not sure if I can get in shape for that, but I’d like to try.

I’ll be praying that God aligns everything so that I can run on this day. (And pull off a sneaky side tour in the afternoon.) Will let y’all know if that happens. If not, no problem; there’ll be other races.

Back on the bus

I did a 4k last Tuesday. It was my first run in more than two months – I know! I’m sorry! – but it felt pretty good. More importantly, when I awoke the next day, I didn’t have any leg pain, which tells me that I might be all set to resume my thrice-a-week runs.

I was all set to run this morning, then Typhoon Tropical Depression Feria came in and rained on my parade.

No matter. I’ll find time to walk about the building during my 12-hour shift at the office today. *mumble grumble rassum frassum*

Also, a great big “Thank you!” to Anton, who sent me several e-books on diet and fitness. Thanks, bro! *hi-five* I’ve read two already and they’re extremely, extremely useful! I’m particularly excited about Warrior Fitness; most of the material in this book contain exercises I can do at home. They don’t look easy at all, which means NEW CHALLENGE! A shout-out, too, to Chinkee Tan, who donated a bottle of chromium picolinate to my cause.

Today, I woke up at 4:00am but went back to sleep because it was raining. It’s now 5:20am, I’m about to hit the showers and prepare for a great day! Breakfast will be cereal with Nesvita Pro-Weight Management milk and chopsuey with ground chicken breast; 10:00am snack is a cup of yogurt; lunch will be salad with a grilled porkchop, and dinner will be up for grabs (I’m thinking of getting some sashimi from Tokyo Tokyo).

I’m back on the bus!

I’m in the Philippine Star

Check it out! The Nesvita winners were featured in today’s Philippine Star! How fun is that?

Victory Church’s communications director James Michael Deen found out about the video contest through an online link. Since he was already on his weight-loss program as stated in his blog, James decided to join the contest and make it his testimonial on how he dropped his weight from 234 to 198 lbs. His entry entitled “Little Things Count,” which he did for two days, made it to the top 10 videos and won for him an iPod Nano.
