Race for Life results and on stress & binge-eating

So the Race for Life results are in. I was 326th out of 755. 5K in 40:58, which was a little over my target of eight minutes a kilometer (it’s 8:12, to be exact). I chalk that up to the out-of-the-gate-running that I did, which was a mistake. Still, it’s a better performance than my initial run, when I came in 290th out of 330 runners. For that particular run, I did 8K in approximately an hour and nine minutes, for an 8:41/km clip.

I can’t believe it. I actually improved over the previous run? (Well, in fairness, it was only 5K, whilst the first run was 8K.) That’s such welcome news! I feel better!

Today at work, things were rough. I should’ve dealt with it with a walk, which I really really really wanted to do, but instead, I stayed at my Macky (my laptop) and worked through the stress. The end result: I barreled my way through five pieces of chocolate (thanks, Archie) and my leftover tuna, corn, and mushroom stir-fry. Not the best way to handle it. Worse, I had a (mayo-free) Whopper for dinner, sans fries, and a bottle of water. No one to blame for this binge other than myself. Plus, the walking wasn’t spectacular, as I tallied a little over 3,000 steps. Man, I gotta get moving again!

Tomorrow’s gonna be great: I’m going to do weights or run in the morning, then ensure the day is packed with a healthy diet and affirming activities, not the toxic workload I dealt with today. It’s going to be better because I’m going to rely on God for it.

10000 Steps (Nov 26 08)

Today was pretty bad: 3,891 steps. Blech.

Tomorrow’ll be much better. I always log in around 15,000 steps on Thursdays thanks to two free hours at the mall while waiting for Cathy’s PhD class to end.

Today, I just barely made the minimum. 10,052 steps by the end of the day. But that’s an improvement over my lazy half-hearted efforts the past week. I also did a pretty standup job of nutrition today, packing in a lot less carbs than I’m used to, and a heckuva lot more fiber. Yea for me!

11010 steps. What a cool ending number.

This morning, I get to run, which is cool because I haven’t run in almost two weeks. No rain, a fully-charged iPod Shuffle, and an awesome way to start a beautiful Sunday. Life doesn’t get better than this.

I’ve been getting lazy with my 10000 Steps a Day Journal, but that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped doing it. It just means I’ve been too lazy to post it.

Thursdays are good walking days because I have two hours to killĀ  before fetching Cathy at 9AM. So my total for yesterday was 14,827 steps. Purty cool.

Race For Life is in two weeks’ time! WOOT!
