So the Race for Life results are in. I was 326th out of 755. 5K in 40:58, which was a little over my target of eight minutes a kilometer (it’s 8:12, to be exact). I chalk that up to the out-of-the-gate-running that I did, which was a mistake. Still, it’s a better performance than my initial run, when I came in 290th out of 330 runners. For that particular run, I did 8K in approximately an hour and nine minutes, for an 8:41/km clip.
I can’t believe it. I actually improved over the previous run? (Well, in fairness, it was only 5K, whilst the first run was 8K.) That’s such welcome news! I feel better!
Today at work, things were rough. I should’ve dealt with it with a walk, which I really really really wanted to do, but instead, I stayed at my Macky (my laptop) and worked through the stress. The end result: I barreled my way through five pieces of chocolate (thanks, Archie) and my leftover tuna, corn, and mushroom stir-fry. Not the best way to handle it. Worse, I had a (mayo-free) Whopper for dinner, sans fries, and a bottle of water. No one to blame for this binge other than myself. Plus, the walking wasn’t spectacular, as I tallied a little over 3,000 steps. Man, I gotta get moving again!
Tomorrow’s gonna be great: I’m going to do weights or run in the morning, then ensure the day is packed with a healthy diet and affirming activities, not the toxic workload I dealt with today. It’s going to be better because I’m going to rely on God for it.
